Holography with momentum dissipation and massive gravity: a status report

I will review the state of the art of holographic homogeneous models without translational invariance.
Particular emphasis will be put on holographic massive gravity as an effective and efficient way of dissipating momentum
in the context of the gauge-gravity duality. After a broad introduction and motivation of the framework I will describe the phenomenological implications concerning charge and momentum transport of the CFT duals. I will finally analyze the possible existence of universal bounds on physical quantities and the description of strongly coupled insulators within this setup.
